Turkey’s wire rod exports rise by 35 percent in December

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in December 2014 Turkey's wire rod exports increased 34.77 percent year on year to 121,017 metric tons, up by almost three times month on month. The revenue from these exports amounted to $64.5 million, up 20.5 percent year on year and rising by 178 percent month on month. In the given month, the average price of Turkey's wire rod exports stood at $533.2/mt, decreasing by $27.8/mt month on month and down from the average of $595.9/mt recorded in the same month of 2013.
 
Meanwhile, in 2014 Turkey's wire rod exports increased by 1.54 percent, amounting to 949,542 metric tons, while the value of these exports totaled $556.8 million, down 1.05 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
 
In 2014, the US ranked first among Turkey's wire rod export destinations by importing 278,455 mt, increasing six-fold (up 582.67 percent) year on year. In the given period, Turkey's wire rod exports to Israel increased by 44.8 percent year on year to 157,806 mt. Israel was followed by Libya, which imported 68,320 metric tons of wire rod from Turkey in the given period, down 45.51 percent year on year.
