Turkey’s unemployment rate keeps on rising

Based on the data published by Turkey's State Institute of Statistics (DIE), Turkey's unemployment rate rose to 11.5% in January 2005. Unemployment rate totaled 2.7 million people in the same month. The country's unemployment rate continues to rise despite robust economic growth. Excluding agricultural sector, unemployment rate climbs to 15.2% in January. This rate rose to 14.2% in urban areas and 18.7% in rural areas. According to DIE data, 20.82 million of people employ in Turkey. Service sector accounts for 46% of the total employment number and 30.2% in agricultural sector, 19.4% in industrial sector and 4.4% in construction sector.
