Turkey's steel imports from China up 64.4 percent in January-October

In October this year, Turkey's steel imports from China increased by 217 percent to 84,000 mt, according to a report released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). Of these imports, 10,000 mt consisted of billet, 42,000 mt consisted of flat products, up 151.3 percent, and long products accounted for 32,000 mt, surging by 228.4 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

When pipes and other steel products are included, in the given month Turkey's steel imports from China reached 111,000 mt, up 131.6 percent year on year.  

Meanwhile, in the first 10 months this year, Turkey's steel imports from China amounted to almost 384,000 mt, up 64.4 percent year on year. These imports consisted of 30,000 mt of billet and bloom, 139,000 mt of long products, up 121.4 percent, and 215,000 mt of flat products, up 26.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Including pipes and other steel products, in the given period Turkey's steel imports from China reached 665,000 mt, up 33.3 percent, and the value of these imports rose by 18.1 percent to $1.02 billion, both year on year.
