Turkey’s steel import volume up 31.4 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's steel imports increased by 31.4 percent year on year to 1.49 million mt, according to the data released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). 

Turkey’s semi-finished exports which rose by 65 percent to 7.9 million mt in 2015 continued to rise in January of the current year increasing by 22.5 percent to 459,000 mt due to high scrap prices. In the given month, flat steel imports totaled 790,000 mt, rising by 32 percent on year-on-year basis.
