Turkey’s steel import volume down four percent in January-October

According to the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in October this year Turkey’s steel imports decreased by 23.3 percent to 1.25 million mt, year on year. 
 
In the given month, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports decreased by 38.5 percent to 415,500 mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports fell by 12.9 percent to 626,400 mt, both compared to the same month last year. 
 
In October, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 112 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 93 percent in the same period last year.
 
In the January-October period of this year, Turkey's steel imports declined by four percent year on year to 15.2 million mt.
 
In the first ten months of this year, Turkey’s semi-finished imports fell by 18 percent to 5.48 million mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports continued to increase with a 5.3 percent rise to 7.37 million mt, both compared to the same period last year.
 
In the January-October period of this year, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 96 percent of its steel import volume, with this percentage unchanged compared the same period last year.
