In March this year, Turkey’s steel imports decreased by 15.1 percent to 1.43 million mt, year on year, as announced by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the given month, Turkey’s semi-finished steel imports decreased by 34.8 percent to 431,000 mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports fell by 4.3 percent to 770,300 mt, both compared to the same month of the previous year. In March, the long steel product imports of the country were down by 14.1 percent to 121,100 mt, year on year.
In March, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 130 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 99 percent in the same month of 2016.
In the first quarter of this year, Turkey's steel imports continued their declining trend. In the given period, Turkey's steel imports decreased by 20.7 percent to 4.0 million mt, year on year.
In the first three months, Turkey’s semi-finished imports fell by 33 percent to 1.31 million mt, while Turkey’s flat steel imports decreased by 13 percent to 2.1 million mt, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
In the first quarter of this year, Turkey's steel export volume was equivalent to 123 percent of its steel import volume, compared to 88 percent in the same period of 2016.
