According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in October this year
Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $1.75 billion, increasing by 26.6 percent year on year and down 8.5 percent from September. Iron and steel ranked third among the most imported products of the country. Meanwhile, imports of articles of iron or steel rose by 14.5 percent compared to October 2010 and were down 7.3 percent month on month, amounting to $196.25 million.
Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of 2011 the country's iron and steel imports stood at $17 billion, while its imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $2.1 billion, increasing by 29 percent and up 34.9 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
