Turkey’s steel import value down 16.5 percent in April from March

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in April this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 25.8 percent year on year and was down by 16.5 percent month on month, totaling $1.16 billion and ranking fifth among the country's most imported products in terms of value. In the first four months of this year, Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 9.8 percent to $5.18 billion on year-on-year basis.

In April, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $215.3 million, down by 2.3 percent year on year and month on month. In the January-April period of this year, Turkey's imports of articles of iron and steel decreased by 1.7 percent year on year to $857.5 million.
