Turkey’s steel exports up 15.3 percent in first two months

In February this year, Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 1.69 million metric tons, increasing by 6.3 percent compared to the previous month and up 2.9 percent year on year, according to the Turkey's Steel Exporters' Association (CIB).

Meanwhile, in the first two months of the current year Turkey's total steel product exports amounted to 3.28 million metric tons, up 15.3 percent compared to the same period last year.

In February this year, Turkey's exports of rebar, which ranks first among the country's exported steel products in terms of volume, rose 13.6 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
 
In February, Turkey's steel product exports to Colombia, Panama and Angola saw significant increases, while the highest decreases were recorded in steel exports to the UAE, Canada and Saudi Arabia.

In the January-February period, Saudi Arabia was Turkey's largest destination for steel exports, receiving 450,000 metric tons. In the given period, Turkey's steel product exports to the US amounted to 322,000 mt, while Iraq imported 295,000 mt of steel products from Turkey.
