In the January-May period of this year, Turkey's steel exports increased by 22.5 percent year on year to 8.48 million mt, while the value of these exports moved up by 33.7 percent year on year to $5.66 billion, according to the data released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the given period, Turkey's long steel exports rose by 4.2 percent to 4.45 million mt, while flat steel exports increased by 78.6 percent to 1.92 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
In the first five months, the country’s semi-finished steel exports grew by 515 percent to 512,578 mt, year on year.
In May this year, Turkey's steel exports increased by 24.3 percent to 1.64 million mt, with a value of $1.17 billion, up 32.6 percent, both year on year.
The rising trend in flat steel exports continued in May without losing momentum. In the given month, Turkey's flat steel exports rose by 196 percent to 454,701 mt, while the long steel product exports of the country decreased by 8.5 percent to 760,029 mt, both compared to the same month of 2016.
In the given month, the country’s semi-finished steel exports increased by 210.5 percent to 79,876 mt, year on year.
