In 2016, Turkey's steel exports increased by 1.2 percent year on year to 16.9 million mt, while the value of these exports decreased by eight percent year on year to $10.8 billion, according to the data released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
In the given year, Turkey's long steel exports fell by 1.3 percent to 10.05 million mt, while flat steel exports increased by 21.3 percent to 3.08 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
In December last year, Turkey's steel exports grew by 9.7 percent to 1.66 million mt, with a value of $1.05 billion, up 15.2 percent, both year on year.
The year-on-year increase in exports of flat steel products gained momentum in December. In December last year, Turkey's flat steel exports rose by 61.1 percent to 406,400 mt, while the long steel product exports of the country decreased by 6.7 percent to 898,300 mt, both compared to the same month of 2015.
