Turkey’s steel export value up 25 percent in August

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in August this year Turkey's iron and steel exports totaled $845.76 million, increasing by 24.7 percent year on year and down 17.26 percent from July, while exports of articles of iron or steel rose by 23.2 percent compared to August 2010 and were up 6.57 percent month on month, amounting to $487.49 million.
 
Meanwhile, in the first eight months of 2011 the country's iron and steel exports stood at $7.48 billion, while its exports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $3.77 billion, increasing by 35.4 percent and up 21.6 percent respectively, both compared to the corresponding period of 2010.
