Turkey's steel billet imports down 44.4 percent in November

In November last year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume decreased by 44.4 percent year on year to 305,723 metric tons, and increased by 0.6 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $91.52 million, down 44 percent year on year and decreasing by 2.7 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of last year Turkey imported 2.58 million mt of billet and bloom, down 5.4 percent, with a value of $1.4 billion, decreasing by 7.6 percent, both year on year.
In the first 11 months, Turkey imported 1.33 million mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 4.9 percent lower year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 883,565 mt in the given period, up 0.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in November this year Russia was the leading source for Turkey's billet and bloom imports, supplying 84,929 mt, up 15.3 percent year on year.
