In March, Turkey's steel bar exports increased for the second straight month on month-on-month basis, both in volume and in revenue.
According to the data provided by the Istanbul Mineral and Metals Exporters' Association (IMMIB), in March this year Turkey's total steel bar exports, including rebar, amounted to 568,381 metric tons, decreasing by 41.4 percent year on year and up by 16.52 percent month on month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $297.48 million, declining by 27.69 percent compared to March 2009 and up 21.59 percent month on month.
In March, the average export price of Turkish steel bar amounted to $523.38/mt, increasing by $21.83/mt or 4.35 percent from February levels, and up $100/mt or 23.38 percent from March last year.

Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2010, Turkey's steel bar exports declined by 52.43 percent, reaching 1.37 million metric tons, while the revenue for these exports stood at $695.04 million, decreasing by 47.3 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
