Turkey’s slab imports up 67.4 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's slab imports amounted to 232,578 mt, increased by 67.4 percent year on year and up 93.2 percent compared to December, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's slab imports in the given month was $85.7 million, up 149 percent compared to January 2016 and rising by 106.5 percent month on month.


 
In the given month, Turkey imported 177,724 metric tons of slab from Russia. Russia was Turkey's largest slab import source in the period in question, followed by Brazil, which supplied 54,854 mt.
