Turkey’s seamless pipe imports down 24 percent in Jan-Apr

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year Turkey's seamless pipe imports fell by 25.5 percent compared to the previous month and were down 7.7 percent compared to April 2011, amounting to 14,979 metric tons. The value of these imports totaled $24.3 million, decreasing by 23 percent as compared to March and down 21.2 percent year on year.
 
In the first four months of the year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports amounted to 63,251 metric tons, decreasing 24 percent compared to the same period of 2011. The value of these imports came to $99.5 million, decreasing by 25.7 percent year on year.
 
Meanwhile, Turkey's spirally welded tube exports in the first four months of the current year amounted to 60,669 mt, decreasing 11.4 percent compared to the same period of 2011, while the country's longitunally welded tube exports reached 509,785 mt, rising 5.9 percent year on year. The value of spirally welded and longitunally welded tube exports in the given period amounted to $69.9 million and $450 million respectively, increasing by 3.2 percent and down 2.3 percent year on year.
