Turkey’s scrap imports up 10.6 percent in January-November

In November last year, Turkey's scrap import volume increased by 45.5 percent year on year to 1.9 million metric tons and was up 54.5 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $428.3 million, up 51.2 percent year on year and rising by 51.3 percent compared to October.


 
In the January-November period of the past year, Turkey's scrap imports increased by 10.6 percent to 16.05 million mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 9.6 percent to $3.57 billion, both compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
In the first 11 months of 2016, Turkey imported 3,097,569 mt of scrap from the US, down 8.62 percent year on year, with the US ranking as Turkey's leading scrap import source, ahead of Russia which supplied 2,435,980 mt in the given period, up 7.85 percent year on year.
