Turkey’s rebar exports up 29 percent in Q1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's rebar (including round bar) exports amounted to 851,933 metric tons, increasing by 39.3 percent year on year and up 4.45 percent from the previous month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $546.9 million, rising by 38 percent compared to March 2011 and up 4.9 percent from the previous month.

On the other hand, in the first quarter of the current year Turkey's rebar exports stood at 2.3 million metric tons, up 29 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $1.5 billion, increasing by 30.1 percent as compared to January-March 2011.

In the January-March period this year, Turkey's rebar exports to the US, one of the largest rebar export destinations of Turkey, increased 84.8 percent, while rebar exports to the UAE decreased by 53.4 percent, both compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, Turkish rebar exports to African countries saw increases in March this year.
