According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in April this year Turkey's rebar (including round bar) exports amounted to 604,525 metric tons, decreasing by 9.4 percent year on year and down 29 percent from the previous month. Meanwhile, the revenue generated by these exports totaled $393.7 million, falling by 8.2 percent compared to April 2011 and down 28 percent from the previous month.
On the other hand, in the first four months of the current year Turkey's rebar exports stood at 2.88 million metric tons, up 18.6 percent year on year, while the total revenue of these exports amounted to $1.85 billion, increasing by 19.7 percent as compared to January-April 2011.
In the January-April period this year, Turkey's rebar exports to the US, one of the largest rebar export destinations of Turkey, increased 77.5 percent, while rebar exports to the UAE decreased by 42.6 percent, both compared to the same period last year.
