The Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD) has stated that the recovery of Turkey’s steel production has continued. Turkey's crude steel production, which declined from 2012 to 2015, has been indicating an upward trend this year, with a 4.1 percent year-on-year increase recorded in the January-September period of the current year.

According to the TCUD’s statement, in the remaining part of the current year the performance of the Turkish steel industry will be affected by global overcapacity, dumped and subsidized imports and the measures taken by the Turkish government to eliminate unfair imports and to terminate all kinds of practices that restrict competition.

In addition, the TCUD also noted that in the coming period, despite the recent recovery, the Turkey industry's production level will continue to lag behind previous years and imports will maintain their share in domestic steel consumption. Accordingly, the TCUD stressed that it is imperative to take urgent measures to eliminate imports and to create a structure that will leave added value in the country.
