In October this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 105,753 mt, up 29 percent compared to September and falling by 9.25 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month increased by 35 percent month on month to $28.7 million, down 7.1 percent compared to October 2015.
Meanwhile, in the first ten months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports increased by 9.1 percent to 925,009 mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 17 percent to $233.2 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January-October period this year, Turkey imported 561,013 metric tons of pig iron from Ukraine, up 47.57 percent year on year. Ukraine ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Russia which supplied 340,605 mt, down 24.62 percent year on year.
