In November last year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 93,148 mt, down 11.9 percent compared to October and falling by 15.4 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 14.6 percent month on month to $24.5 million, up 4.7 percent compared to November 2015.
Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of last year, Turkey's pig iron imports increased by 6.35 percent to 1.04 million mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 15.2 percent to $257.8 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January-November period last year, Turkey imported 620,385 metric tons of pig iron from Ukraine, up 34.88 percent year on year. Ukraine ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Russia which supplied 374,097 mt, down 22.16 percent year on year.
