In September this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 81,986 mt, rising by 46.9 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month increased by 29.8 percent to $21.3 million compared to September 2015.
Meanwhile, in the first nine months of the current year, Turkey's pig iron imports increased by 12 percent to 846,341 mt, while the value of these imports decreased by 18.1 percent to $204.5 million, both on year-on-year basis.
In the January-September period this year, Turkey imported 512,910 metric tons of pig iron from Ukraine, up 57.53 percent year on year. Ukraine ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Russia which supplied 287,940 mt, down 2.86 percent year on year.
