Turkey’s pig iron imports down 40.22 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 64,378 mt, falling by 40.22 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 14.6 percent month on month to $19.6 million, up 15.22 percent compared to January 2016.

In January this year, Turkey imported 55,878 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 39.12 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 7,500 mt, down 88.62 percent year on year.
