Turkey's iron ore imports up 73 percent in January

In January this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 1.03 million mt, up 38.8 percent month on month and rising 73 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports increased by 50 percent to $86.3 million compared to the previous month and was up 133.3 percent year on year.


 
In the given month, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 510,278 mt, up 167.72 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Ukraine which supplied 247,207 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Sweden in the given period amounted to 164,000 mt.
