In February this year, Turkey's iron ore imports totaled 463,193 mt, down 55 percent month on month and falling 58 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports remained stable at $86.3 million compared to the previous month and was up 29.3 percent year on year.
In the first two months of the current year, Turkey's iron ore imports amounted to 2 million mt, up 17.5 percent, while value of these imports increased by 66.4 percent to $172.6 million, both year on year.
In the given period, Turkey's iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 847,301 mt, down 11.99 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 326,863 mt, while Turkey's iron ore imports from Ukraine in the given period amounted to 288,369 mt.
