Turkey’s industrial turnover index for basic metals manufacture down 42.8 percent in August

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in August decreased by 6.7 percent compared to same month of the previous year and was down 3.3 percent over July.

Among the industry sub-sectors in Turkey, in August the mining sector index increased by 0.6 percent, while the manufacturing sector index decreased by seven percent, both compared with the same month of the previous year.

In August, the highest decrease rate in the industrial turnover index was in the manufacture of basic metals, which saw a drop of 43.8 percent year on year and registered a decrease of 7.04 percent over the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the month in question, the monthly industrial new orders index for the manufacture of basic metals declined by 6.19 percent over July and was down 44.47 percent year on year.
