Turkey’s industrial production rises for eleventh straight month

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜIK), in August this year Turkey's monthly industrial production index increased by 11 percent year on year, while the seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index improved by 2.7 percent compared to the previous month. August was the eleventh consecutive month in which a year-on-year increase was recorded.
 
In August, the index for the manufacture of basic metals increased by 10.12 percent year on year and was down 7.75 percent over July, while the index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products rose by 16.24 percent year on year and was down by 5.31 percent compared to the previous month. However, the indices for both industries are far below 2008 levels.
