Finished steel consumption in Turkey in the January-November period last year increased remarkably, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In addition, in spite of the decrease in Turkey’s crude steel output, in the given period Turkey’s finished steel output increased thanks to the increase in semi-finished imports.
Finished steel output in Turkey in the January-November period of 2015 rose by 2.8 percent year on year to 33.91 million mt, according to the report released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
As stated in the report, in the first eleven months of last year Turkey's long product output totaled 24.29 million mt, up 3.2 percent, and its flat product output grew by 1.7 percent to 9.61 million mt, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, 71.7 percent of the total finished steel output consisted of long products and 28.3 percent was accounted for by flat products.
In the January-November period, consumption of long products in Turkey increased by 10.4 percent to 16.49 million mt, while flat product consumption rose by 13.6 percent to 15.1 million mt, both year on year. In the given period, 52.2 percent of total finished steel consumption was for long products, while 47.8 percent was accounted for by flat products.
