In 2016, finished steel output in Turkey decreased by 0.2 percent year on year to 36.88 million mt, according to a report issued by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
As stated in the report, in 2016 Turkey's long product output totaled 26.01 million mt, decreasing by 2.03 percent, and its flat product output grew by 4.6 percent to 10.9 million mt, both on year-on-year basis.
Finished steel consumption in Turkey last year fell by 0.9 percent to 34.07 million mt compared to 2015.
In 2016, long products and flat products accounted for 52.7 percent and 48.3 percent of Turkey’s finished steel consumption, respectively. Last year, Turkish consumption of long products fell by 1.7 percent to 17.6 million mt, while consumption of flat steel products remained almost stable at 16.5 million mt, both year on year.
