Turkey's finished steel consumption down 0.6% in January-November

In the first 11 months of 2014, Turkey's finished steel output decreased by 0.6 percent year on year to 32.9 million metric tons, according to a report released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD). In the given period, Turkey's long products output totaled 23.45 million metric tons, down 2.9 percent, and its flat products output increased by 5.8 percent to 9.45 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, 71.3 percent of the total finished steel output consisted of long products and 28.7 percent was accounted for by flat products.
 
As stated in the report, in the first 11 months of the current year Turkey's finished steel consumption decreased by 1.7 percent year on year 28.1 million metric tons. In the given period, consumption of long products in the country decreased by 2.6 percent to 14.84 million metric tons, while flat products consumption declined by 0.7 percent to 13.27 million metric tons. In the given period, 52.8 percent of total finished steel consumption was for long products and 47.2 percent was accounted for by flat products.
