According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports rose 50.5 percent compared to the previous month and were up 104.5 on year-on-year basis, increasing to 50,472 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $79.9 million, increasing by 49.2 percent as compared to July this year and up 100.8 percent compared to the same month last year.
In August, Turkey's ferroalloy imports from Ukraine amounted to 16,632 metric tons, increasing by 170.6 percent month on month and accounting for approximately 33 percent of Turkey's total ferroalloy imports. Turkey's second biggest source of ferroalloy imports in August was China with 9,130 metric tons, increasing by 145.5 percent compared to July this year.
In the first eight months of this year, Turkey's ferroalloy imports amounted to 299,672 metric tons, increasing by 17.3 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from Ukraine in January-August this year amounted to 101,272 metric tons, decreasing by 18.2 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports from India in the first eight months of the year amounted to 45,910 mt, increasing by 200 percent compared to the same period last year.
