Turkey’s ferroalloy imports down 12 percent in Q1

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's ferroalloy imports fell 30.5 percent compared to the previous month and were down 30.6 percent compared to March 2011, totaling 27,568 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $42.4 million, decreasing by 24.4 percent as compared to February and down 34.2 percent year on year.

In the first quarter of 2012, Turkey's ferroalloy imports totaled 103,082 metric tons, decreasing 12 percent compared to January-March 2011. Imports from Ukraine in the period in question amounted to 35,758 metric tons, falling by 23.1 percent, while imports from India in the first three months of the current year amounted to 20,296 mt, down 21.6 percent, both compared to the same period of 2011.
