According to a statement released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), while the Turkish construction sector claims there is a shortage of steel supply, the Turkish steel sector continues to increase its production. Turkish crude steel output in July this year increased by 11 percent month on month and was up by 28 percent year on year to 3.34 million mt.
In the given month, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces rose by 42 percent, while production by integrated plants increased by 2.8 percent, both year on year.
In the January-July period of this year, Turkish crude steel output rose by 13.6 percent to 21.6 million mt, year on year. In the given period, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces rose by 18.8 percent to 14.8 million mt, while production by integrated plants increased by 3.8 percent to 6.8 million mt, both year on year.
In the January-July period of this year, Turkey's billet output increased by 9.3 percent to 14.7 million metric tons, while its slab output rose by 24.2 percent to 6.8 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.
