Turkey's chrome ore exports to China down 34.2% in January-July

In July this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports amounted to 88,556 metric tons, down 60.23 percent compared to July 2013 and declining by 51.65 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The revenue generated by these exports totaled $21.39 million, down 53.33 percent year on year and decreasing by 49.46 percent on month-on-month basis.

Meanwhile, in the first seven months of this year, Turkey's chrome ore exports decreased by 22.69 percent to 993,244 metric tons, while the value of these exports declined by 12.87 percent to $228.44 million, both on year-on-year basis.

In the first seven months, Turkey's chrome ore exports to China, which is the largest destination for chrome ore exports from Turkey, amounted to 791,178 mt, down 34.16 percent year on year. Sweden followed China in the period in question, importing 142,037 mt of chrome ore from Turkey.
