Turkey’s Cemtas sees decrease in net profit for Jan-Sept

Bursa-based Turkish steelmaker Cemtas Celik Makina Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S (Cemtas) has posted a net profit of TRY 6.27 million ($3.5 million) for the third quarter of 2012, down 7.7 percent year on year. The company's net profit for the first nine months of the current year amounted to TRY 9.54 million ($5.35 million), down 51.35 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

In the third quarter, total sales revenues of the company decreased 35.2 percent year on year to TRY 39.56 million ($22.2 million), while in the first nine months Cemtas' sales revenues amounted to TRY 155.67 million ($87.3 million), down 10.12 percent year on year. Cemtas reported an operating income of TRY 6.84 million ($3.83 million) for the third quarter, down 20.9 percent year on year. In the first nine months of 2012, the operating income of the company amounted to TRY 8.74 million ($4.9 million) compared to an operating income of TRY 18.71 million in the same period of 2011.

Cemtas' steel billet output in January-September totaled 89,193 mt, decreasing by 12 percent year on year, while its rolled steel output decreased by nine percent to 84,669 mt compared to the corresponding period of 2011.
