Turkey’s basic metals turnover index up 7.6% in Mar over Feb

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK), Turkey's monthly industrial turnover index in March this year increased by two percent compared to the same month of the previous year and was up 13.1 percent month on month, following the 0.1 percent month-on-month increase recorded in February.

In March, the industrial turnover index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey decreased by 1.5 percent year on year and registered a 7.6 percent rise over the previous month, after a rise of 3.9 percent in February compared to January. In March, the industrial turnover index for fabricated metal product manufacturing, except machinery and equipment, increased 5.2 percent year on year and rose by 13.6 percent over the previous month, following a 1.8 percent increase in February compared to January.

In March, the turnover of the domestic sales of Turkish basic metals manufacturing increased by eight percent, while foreign sales were up by seven percent, month on month. In March, a 15.6 percent month-on-month increase was recorded in the domestic sales turnover in manufacture of fabricated metal products, with foreign sales increasing by 9.7 percent, compared to the previous month.
