Turkey’s basic metal manufacturing output up 6.8% in March

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in March this year Turkey's calendar adjusted monthly industrial production index with the base year 2010=100 decreased by 0.9 percent compared to the previous month, while the index was up 1.4 percent year on year. The production index in the country's intermediate goods output recorded a 3.2 percent year-on-year increase in February, while it fell 0.4 percent compared to the previous month.
 
In March, the production index for the manufacture of basic metals in Turkey rose 6.8 percent year on year and was down 0.5 percent from the previous month, following the 5.6 percent month-on-month increase recorded in February. Meanwhile, the output index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products in March rose by 0.2 percent year on year and was down by 5.6 percent compared to the previous month, following the 0.7 percent month-on-month decrease recorded in February.
