Turkey is Europe’s 9th biggest economy

According to market sources, Turkey took its place as the 9th biggest economy among EU member countries in terms of GDP growth in 2004. According to official data, the year before Turkey was in the 10th place. A study by Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) forecasts that Turkey may move to 7th rank within a couple of years if it continues to have the economic success it has achieved in the last three years. Meanwhile, the same study reveals that Turkey occupies the last rank among the EU-25 countries in terms of GDP per person with $4'112.
