According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in the first half of this year Turkey's cold rolled flat steel imports rose 47.08 percent year on year, reaching 354,280 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $254.75 million, increasing by 37.33 percent, as compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
In the period in question, Turkey's cold rolled flat steel imports from Russia amounted to 140,414 metric tons, increasing by 63.52 percent year on year and accounted for approximately 40 percent of the country's total cold rolled flat steel imports.
Meanwhile, in the January-June period of this year, Turkey increased its cold rolled flat steel imports from Ukraine by 49.9 percent to 64,411 metric tons and cold rolled flat steel imports from Romania amounted to 30,570 metric tons, climbing by 22 times, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
