TMK installs new LD pipe mill at Volzhsky

The Russian pipe producer TMK Group (TMK) has announced the start of the installation of a new large diameter (LD) longitudinal welded pipe mill at its subsidiary Volzhsky Pipe Plant (Volzhsky).

The new mill will have an annual production capacity of 650,000 metric tons of longitudinal welded pipes of X80 grade, with diameter ranging from 530 mm to 1,420 mm and wall thickness of up to 42 mm.

The equipment for the new mill is supplied by Switzerland-based supplier HAEUSLER AG.

The new mill is expected to start production in the third quarter of 2008. Following its commissioning, the annual production capacity of Volzhsky's large diameter pipes will increase to 1.2 million metric tons.
