Russian pipe producer TMK Group (TMK) has announced the beginning of the construction of a gas furnace for annealing with a protective atmosphere at its subsidiary Sinarskiy Pipe Works Joint Stock Co.

Supplied by Austrian furnace maker Ebner, the new furnace with protective atmosphere is to be used for heat treatment of non-corrosive and alloyed seamless cold deformed pipes, up to 24 meters in length.

In the scope of this project, Sinarskiy Pipe Works is scheduled to increase by three times its capacity for heat treatment of pipes in a protective atmosphere and to enlarge its assortment of advanced technology products for power engineering and machine building. Moreover, the plant is to manufacture high-quality long-length boiler and crack pipes from alloyed steel and bearing tubes from steel ShKh15.

The new gas furnace will allow Sinarskiy Pipe Works to increase up to 25,000 mt per year its production of heat treated cold deformed seamless pipes of high added value.

The furnace is due to start production operations in the second quarter of 2009.
