TK Fordertechnik to supply RMH to new TKS mill in Brazil

The largest German steel producer ThyssenKrupp Steel has announced that it has awarded ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik with the equipment supply agreement for its new slab mill in Brazil. ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik will be in charge of supplying raw materials handling (RMH) technology and other systems.

The new slab mill, with an annual production capacity of five million metric tons, will be located in the Bay of Sepetiba in the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The new integrated plant will include two blast furnaces, an oxygen steel mill, two continuous casting plants, a coke plant, a power plant and a port of its own.

The planned mill, worth € 3 billion, will be put into operation at the beginning of 2009.
