TISCO plans to expand production capacity

Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel Corp (TISCO) has recently announced that it plans to purchase several steel plants both in India and abroad in the current fiscal to expand its capacity. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, TISCO had revealed its aim to expand its capacity to 7 million tons by 2007 or 2008 and to 15 million tons by 2010. The recently revealed project of the company is part of its expansion plans. Moreover, the company plans to increase the production of branded steel products and range of its product mix. TISCO will also expand capacity of its Jamshedpur facilities from 4 million tons to 5 million tons. A company official stated that steel demand has increased due to rising construction projects and automobile sales, accordingly the company will increase its capacity.
