ThyssenKrupp to reduce flat steel production

German steel producer ThyssenKrupp Steel (TKS) reportedly plans to scale back its galvanized steel production in the second quarter of 2005 due to lower demand. Hot rolled and cold rolled production will not be affected by the plan. The move will be reviewed in a month's time. As reported by SteelOrbis yesterday, Luxembourg-based steel producer Arcelor also announced plans to reduce flat carbon steel production by 1 million tons in order to balance supply with slow demand.
