ThyssenKrupp Steel, ANSC to build second hot-dip line

Duisburg, Germany based ThyssenKrupp Steel, and Anshan, northern China based Angang New Steel Co (ANSC) are to build a second hot-dip coating line on the site of their joint venture in Dalian port city in northern China. The name of the line will be “TAGAL II”. The decision was taken by the two companies in April; the contracts with the equipment manufacturer CMI and consortium partners Siemens and Drever were signed in Anshan on June 30, 2006. Construction works have commenced. Costing $150 million, the new high-tech line "TAGAL II" is owned equally by the joint venture partners. The line, which will employ totally 240 people, is scheduled to go into trial operation in early 2008. TAGAL II hot-dip coating line is designed for the production of around 400,000 metric tons per annum hot-dip coated steel sheet for auto and household appliances industries. The new line will be the second of its kind in northern China - the first being TAGAL I, which was commissioned in December 2003.
