German group ThyssenKrupp, which specializes in steel production, capital goods and services, has announced that its services segment is expanding its materials services business in Serbia.

Accordingly, ThyssenKrupp has set up an ultra-modern materials processing and logistics center with its own rail link on an area of over 17,000 square meters, a greenfield site in Indjija, 40 kilometers northwest of Belgrade. The center in question will store around 15,000 mt of materials in the medium term, and the workforce will be expanded to around 60.

Commenting on the expansion, Joachim Limberg, vice-chairman of the executive board of ThyssenKrupp Services, stated, "This move means that our network in Central and Eastern Europe and, specifically in the Balkans, is now even more closely knit. Right from the start we will be concentrating on high-grade rolled steel products including complex value-adding processing services. These products will then be followed by nonferrous metals and plastics to embrace a full lineup."

ThyssenKrupp Services is one of the world's biggest and foremost suppliers of stainless steel, nonferrous metals, and plastics.
