Thailand’s scrap imports increase 21 percent in H1 2017

According to the Thai Customs Department, Thailand’s scrap imports totaled 651,000 mt in H1 2017, up 21 percent compared with 538,000 mt imported in H1 2016. The US accounted for 41 percent of the country’s scrap imports in H1, totaling 268,738 mt. The second largest source of scrap imports was New Zealand at 35,570 mt, which accounted for 5.5 percent of imports.
