Mexican steelmaker Ternium Mexico invested $74 million in environmental protection programs at its Guerrero mill, located in the city of San Nicolas de los Garza, in the state of Nuevo Leon, the company announced this week.

According to Ternium, the three projects initiated in April this year at its Guerrero mill include an aspiration system for pollutants and dust at its steelworks rolling mill No. 2, a screening and briquetting system, as well as a regenerating plant for its pickling solution system.

Additionally, the steelmaker said it completed the reforestation of 1,022 trees around the Guerrero mill.

Ternium said the Guerrero mill is one of its most important industrial plants at its Latin America industrial system. Ternium added it invested over $120 million at its Guerrero mill in both industrial safety and environmental protection programs.
