Tata Steel's production surpasses 5 million mt

Indian steelmaker Tata Steel disclosed that its hot metal production surpassed 5 million metric tons for the first time due to the expansion in its facility. The company revamped one of its blast furnaces in April 2005 in an effort to double its steel capacity. Tata Steel aims to increase its steel capacity to 7.5 million metric tons by 2008 from the current 5 million metric tons.
